On Thursday 14th November, the night we’d all been waiting for finally arrived – the 2019 Amara Interior Blog Awards ceremony! Held for the second year at One Marylebone, the dramatic former church is the perfect spot for a glittering celebration so it was a natural choice for us to host the most fabulous event of interior blogging calendar there again.
The theme this year took on a touch of celestial sparkle which could be seen in the cosmic purple, royal blue and vivid pink colour scheme. The lighting crew also made sure there were scatterings of stars throughout the venue too.
Guest started arriving from 6pm which included this year’s shortlisters, sponsors, judges and of course, our hosts. The acclaimed interior designer and television star Sophie Robinson returned for the fourth time and this year was joined by award winning interior blogger and author Kate Watson-Smyth. Together they host The Great Indoors podcast which is on a mission to make interior design accessible and achievable to the many, not the few.
After some welcome fizz served it was time for everyone to take their seats to hear who would be crowned the best blogs of the year. Amara’s Creative Director, Sam Hood, introduced Sophie and Kate who regaled us with the story of their first meeting (when Kate won her 2015 IBA for Mad About the House) before moving onto the main event.
There were laughs, tears and cheers as the winners were called and the big winner of the night was Kimberly Duran who took home not only the gong in the UK Best Home Styling category but she was also awarded the big win of the night, the Bloggers’ Choice award for her blog Swoon Worthy. The winner of this special award was chosen by all this year’s nominees, with Swoon Worthy the clear favourite when the votes came in.
After the ceremony the party could really get going and guests were treated to not one but two bars for their celebration drinks. The rum and gin bar included Rumbullion! and Bathtub Gin cocktails from our drinks sponsor, Ableforth’s. Our second bar was sponsored by Campo Viejo serving their delicious selection of red, white and rosé wines.
Before long it was time to tuck into our selection of sliders, cheeses and desserts. As happens every year, the night drew to a close far too quickly and before we knew it was time to grab a goody bag and head off home, to hotels or keep the party going elsewhere.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that attended this year’s awards night, we hope you had even more fun than we did. We’d also like to thank this year’s sponsors including our headline sponsor, Sofa Workshop, and platinum sponsor, Royal Doulton, along with everyone that contributed to the fabulous goody bags. The night wouldn’t have been the success it was without you!
