Last year after the Amara Interior Blog Awards, we treated the winners to afternoon tea at Rosewood London where the ceremony had been held. Keen to keep up this tradition, this year we invited our talented winners to an afternoon at Ham Yard Hotel which took place on Wednesday 18th November. In attendance was Gabby from Flat 15, Hollie from MiaFleur, Lucy from Lucy Loves Ya, Philip from English Buildings, Victoria from Apartment Number Four and Teri from The Lovely Drawer. Our other fabulous 2015 winners sadly couldn’t make it at time but were definitely there in spirit!
When we arrived we were ushered into the Ham Yard restaurant which no surprise is as beautifully decorated as the rest of the hotel, complete with yellow geometric print wallpaper, spectacular lighting and intriguing curiosities everywhere. Presented with a full menu of afternoon tea options and tea varieties, we decided to sample their classic food selection and vanilla bourbon tea was the tea of choice for those that wanted to try something slightly different from Earl Grey or coffee.
The mountains of food arrived on glass cake stands with a subtle pink sheen, perfectly in keeping with Ham Yard’s unique use of colour. Amongst the classic afternoon tea finger sandwiches were mini hoisin duck burgers which were by far the all-round favourite of the table and then it was time to move onto the cakes and scones. From Earl Grey profiteroles and crème coffee tarts to raspberry cupcakes and light and fluffy macarons, the cake selection was out of this world but try as we might (and we really did try) we still couldn’t finish everything put in front of us!
With the awards ceremony the whirlwind it is, it is extremely hard for the Amara Team to be able to have a proper chat with all the shortlisted bloggers and winners on the evening. This is why we love the winners’ afternoon tea so much as it gives us the opportunity to really get the lowdown on them, their blogs and what they thought of the awards themselves. Over the course of the afternoon the conversation ranged from the ceremony, how it felt to win, then it swiftly moved on to what our winners had been up to since the night and most importantly 2016’s travel plans. We hope everyone that came had as much fun as we did.
Thank you all for coming!
