British design studio Tom Dixon have joined the IBA18 team and are sponsoring the Best Interior Designer Blog award. This month, Tom Dixon Studio have released their newest collection that embodies Dixon’s affinity for marble and solid materiality. The ROCK collection is a spectacular range hand crafted from Indian marble. The IBA Blog takes a look at the ROCK collection…
Following the success of the exquisite Stone collection, Tom Dixon Studio’s ever-growing love for natural materials bears more fruit with a new series of Green Forest marble artefacts. Displaying the natural and uniquely solid materiality that Tom Dixon has long been associated with, ROCK is a collection of interactive, playful and stackable sculptures which act as architectural decor for your dining table.
During his many trips to India where he observed the hand lathe workers of Rajasthan and Agra, Tom Dixon felt inspired to design and create a collection of simple shapes that could be hand turned on a lathe and constructed like playful children’s building blocks. Each exquisitely weighty, sculptural and functional artefact has been hand carved from natural Indian marble on a traditional lathe. The pattern and texture of each piece varies depending on the block of marble it was carved from, ensuring a unique and individualistic quality in every product.
