2018 Meet The IBA Team

MEET THE IBA TEAM

Freddie

Job Title: Founder

What does your IBA job role entail?
A ‘jack of all trades’ role is probably the best way to describe what I do within the IBA team. From planning the entire campaign through utilising ideas and feedback gained from previous years, to ensuring that nothing is left out and making sure that everything is where it should be.

What are you most looking forward to for IBA18?
One of my favourite parts of the blog awards every year is reading all of the brand new interior blogs that I’ve never seen before. The community has such a strong family feel and its great to get the bloggers meeting up and chatting all things interiors.

What’s your top blogging tip?
Grow your email list! They will be your biggest fans, they will be your most passionate readers, start early and don’t worry if it’s slow to grow. It will be worth it in the long run!

Karen

Job Title: PR & Brand Communications

What does your IBA job role entail?
My role for the IBAs is to ensure the whole event runs smoothly throughout the year as well as engaging great brands to be involved, planning any blogger events and partnerships and of course the big night itself!

What are you most looking forward to for IBA18?
We have made a few changes this year to the voting process with a lot more judges involved so I am looking forward to working with all of them as well as the new venue and new host although can’t say too much for now!

What’s your top blogging tip?
I am not a blogger and don’t profess to know a lot but I do think your blog should be a reflection of your character and ultimately you as a brand as well as being consistently true to yourself.

Marie

Job Title: Blogger Communications

What does your IBA job role entail?
I help coordinate the communications for the awards and I’ll be there on the big night, helping everything to run smoothly.

What are you most looking forward to for IBA18?
I am really looking forward to meeting our next top interior bloggers all face-to-face at the awards night.

What’s your top blogging tip?
My blogging tip would be: enjoy what you do. You can optimise your site for google, get loads of followers, views and brand deals – but it means nothing if you don’t love what you write about, because your readers will appreciate that much more.

Hannah

Job Title: Blogger Communications

What does your IBA job role entail?
This will be my second year working on the IBAs and I’m really excited to be managing the blogger communications again. It’s my job to keep you all updated at every stage, providing advice and support, to ensure each of you have an enjoyable experience throughout the process.

What are you most looking forward to for IBA18?
The best part about my role and what I’m most looking forward to this year is having the opportunity to put faces to names again. After supporting you all over the summer months and chatting over email, it’s just so lovely to be able to meet in person and celebrate the event.

What’s your top blogging tip?
My blogging tip would be to balance your sponsored posts with non-sponsored content, to ensure your personality shines through. Readers love to hear about your collaborations and they love to read about you too, so don’t forget to be yourself and just do you!

Emily

Job Title: Content Editor

What does your IBA job role entail?
I write all of the copy for the IBAs each year which includes, website copy, newsletters and all the stationery for the awards ceremony. I am also the editor of the IBA Blog which includes all the latest awards updates, interviews from bloggers and top tips on how to make your blog even better.

What are you most looking forward to for IBA18?
I love the buzz of the awards ceremony itself, it’s such a fantastic conclusion to all of our hard work throughout the year and it’s fantastic to see the top bloggers in industry get the recognition they deserve. I also love interviewing the bloggers on the evening so see what they think of the awards and how it feels to have been shortlisted.

What’s your top blogging tip?
Find your niche and stick to it. Find that specific topic within an industry you are really passionate about write anything and everything you can. If you’re passionate about it, chances are others will be too and you’ll build a loyal following. Make sure to stay true to this niche too even as you get bigger.

I’m always so impressed by the quality of blogs we have entered into the awards. I love meeting all the bloggers on the night, but it’s such a pleasure to read through all the posts that get shared afterwards! It’s lovely to check out all the great feedback and see new snaps from the night emerging!

Alina

Job Title: IBA Ambassador

What does your IBA job role entail?
As an ambassador I am supporting both the team and entrants of the IBAs. Being a lifestyle and interiors blogger myself, who also entered the awards before joining Amara, I know how it feels to be on both sides of the event and how important it is for content creators and influencers to get the recognition they deserve. I have a generalist role that looks at coordinating communications, technical tasks and hands-on help whenever required.

What are you most looking forward to for IBA18?
I am looking forward to seeing and speaking to those who have inspired me for so many years and absolutely can’t wait to discover new blogs as well.

What’s your top blogging tip?
Keep up with Google’s requirements. There’s a massive focus on mobile and, as a result, site speed so I’ve written a step by step guide to help you improve your blog’s speed over on the IBA Blog.
