The 2018 awards saw a complete overhaul of our voting and judging system which was the biggest change to this year’s campaign. Wanting to make the awards more fair we decided that the winners and the shortlist would be decided by splitting the weighting 50/50 between judging and voting. So we assigned judges to each category who chose their favourites and gave each blog a judging score, this was then combined with the score the blogs received in relation to how many votes they got. The highest scoring blogs when the two scores were combined were crowned the winners and the top 5 scoring blogs in each category formed the shortlist.
We also split each category into three territories which means this year we had a record of 30 winners from across the world in the categories and one blog was crowned the best of the best when they took home the Bloggers’ Choice Award. Bringing the grand total of award winning blogs to 31. Held on Thursday 25th October, the awards ceremony gathered together the shortlisted blogs, sponsors and judges for a night of glitz and glamour celebrating the leaders of the interior blogging community.
The 2018 awards ceremony had a bold change of scenery from last year’s Design Museum and was held in the colossal One Marylebone. A converted church, the venue boasted eye-catching vaulted ceilings and dazzling lighting displays that could capture the 2018 neon colour scheme. Emblazoned in purple, pink and orange, the ceremony was if possible, more glittering than any year before and our esteemed host for the evening was interior expert and author, Michelle Ogundehin.
With tasty treats and tipples free flowing for the evening the evening whirled by as new winners were crowned in their particular fields of expertise. Go behind the scenes of the 2018 awards with the image gallery which shows the venue and attendees in all their glory.
