As one of the very first brands to join the company when it launched over ten years ago, Missoni Home is one of Amara’s most popular luxury brands and every year the newly released core collection is eagerly anticipated and flies off of the shelves once released. Missoni Home has joined the Amara Interior Blog Awards for the third year in a row and this year they have taken on one of the coveted platinum sponsor spots and they will be sponsoring the Best European Blog Award. Known the world over for their instantly recognisable prints designed by Rosita Missoni herself, the IBA Blog takes a look at the 2016 Missoni Home collection which was released early this year…
The new Missioni Home collection has evolved the brand’s signature prints to encompass three dimensional elements and strong structural features with the inclusion of unusual constructions and fibre blends. The stylistic imprint of the 2016 collection is formed from weaves that sustain their essence whilst unfolding to form artistic textural bursts which give the designs renewed energy and highlight Missoni Home’s longstanding affinity with colour.
Jacquards are a key element of the collection, which creates a textured feel on the surfaces. A combination of soft and vivid brocades and paper-like lace embossing can be found on certain pieces, along with bold geometric sequences and flame stripes. Colour reverses have also been utilised for a playful use of negative and positive design which can be best seen on the Stoccarda print which is embossed on one side and smooth and overprinted on the other.
Illusionary techniques have been applied on other collection pieces likes Sestriere and Sabah. Tromp l’oeil effects are represented amongst chevrons and checks which have the look of folded 3D tiles reminiscent of origami. With many prints in the 2016 collection new adaptations of classic Missoni Home prints, there are also a selection of stylish new designs to join the range this year. Instant favourites from the new collection have been the Anemones range and the marine themed Tropical Fish which is an entirely outdoor collection.
Joyful and reminiscent of one of Missoni Home’s most celebrated designs Passiflora, Anemones is an explosion of colour with exaggerated petal sizes and blooms of contrasting shades. Giving the impression of movement and fluidity, the Anemones print is available in both bold and muted hues to incorporate the design into any home. Tropical Fish is a summery outdoor collection rich with marine references and exotic fish in fantastical shades. The addition of micro and macro stripes are also reminiscent of traditional maritime design.
Iconic Missoni Home motifs have been vibrantly reimagined for the Fireworks FR range resulting in an extraordinary firework effect. From flame stripes to kaleidoscopic patterns, each fabric in this range has been printed on exclusive flame resistant nylon or trivia. With so many new designs to choose from in the 2016 collection, it’s near impossible to pick a favourite so make sure to explore the new 2016 collection now at Amara.
