Essential Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom is one of the longest standing specialist home titles in the country and boasts a 22 year pedigree in the industry. A treasure trove of many of the finest interior inspiration out there, they inspire readers with every release and in 2016, ekbb were awarded the Best Interior Magazine Blog Award at the Amara Interior Blog awards for their newly launched blog which continues their luxurious and innovative offerings online. The IBA Blog catches up with ekbb’s Editor, Ciara Elliot, to find out more about the magazine and its award-winning blog…
You only launched the blog in 2015, how does it feel to already be award winning?
It’s really amazing, and something that we definitely didn’t expect! After only being up and running for a year we were overwhelmed with the positive response to the blog and so thrilled to have won an Amara award. We are also only a small team and have all worked really hard to create this blog, which makes the award even more meaningful.
What does the win mean for the blog?
If anything it has spurred us on to create even better content and to really make our blog the best that it can be. It has been a learning curve but we’ve learnt what works and we will continue to do that.
How do you make sure you keep the blog separate from the ekbb magazine?
The blog and print magazine are connected and do inspire each other, but the blog does have its own vibe. It’s the place where we can be a bit more chatty and informal while still giving readers the most up-to-the-minute information and ideas. This is the place to go to for extra interviews with designers, style inspirations, trends and our favourite product picks.
Where do you get the inspiration for your wide selection of posts?
So many places! It’s inspired by Pinterest and new trends, events and launches that we have been to, and even our own homes. I love Instagram as well and get so many amazing ideas by following different accounts and hashtags.
What are your plans for the blog in 2017?
To continue growing and improving it – it’s only the start so we are excited to build up the blog even more this year!
